The Research and Innovative Technology Administration seeks talented Economists to join the Economic Analysis Division of the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center).  Located in Kendall Square area in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Volpe Center plays a unique role in looking across the transportation enterprise by applying its multi-disciplinary capabilities to anticipate future transportation issues and challenges across all modes of transportation.

We have opportunities for Economists with varying levels of experience (GS-0110-9/11/12). In this role, you will support senior staff conducting analyses of national and urban transportation policies and play a key role in the development of benefit cost models, regulatory assessments, performance metrics, strategic plans, and market analysis; you will determine data sources; select and/or modify techniques for data processing and analysis; and use analytic tools and methodology to examine transportation programs and assist in the development and improvement of related databases. You will be a part of several analytical teams, contributing to major projects, and will have project management responsibilities within assigned projects ensuring these meet defined scopes, timelines and budgets.  

To succeed in this role, you must have strong quantitative background in economic data analysis, and enjoy working in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment. You must also have superb problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills. Experience or interest in transportation is a plus.
